The Resurrection Of Damnation

John 5:28: Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Some believe in annihilation. They believe that at our physical death we cease to exist. Not so. The Bible teaches clearly that there are two different types of resurrection, one leads to an eternal existence in paradise and the other to an eternal existence in torment.

2 Thessalonians 1:7: And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Daniel 12:2: And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Matthew 25:46: And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Revelation 20:10: And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Physical death is the separation of our spirit from our body. Spiritual death is separation from God. The second death is not a death in the sense that we normally think of death. It is the entrance into eternal torment.

John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

1 John 3:14: We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

Passing from death unto life is obviously not passing from physical death unto physical life. It is passing from separation from God to reconciliation with Him, from spiritual death to spiritual life.

2 Corinthians 5:18: And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 9 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

During our physical lifetime we must receive Christ who reconciles us to the Father or it will be forever too late.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Those who reject Christ are already dead spiritually and at their physical death they will be locked into spiritual death forever.

1 John 3:14b: . . . He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1 Timothy 5:6b: . . . she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
